In palabras como preguntas Yásnaya explains the interior contradiction she feels when she calls herself an indígena, since she has been thought in all her life that she was not, that she was a mixe, and one could not just globalize in one word so many different cultures. The thing that she did not take into account when considering this, is that the word indígena in the political world is a symbol of representation and an oppressed part of the society. As Martí mentions, in order to contracts this current system of colonization, one should be proud and know their roots, in this case the indigenous. Martí expresses the importance of being different from the imperialist of colonialist countries, to take our origins as an inspiration for our actual government and systems. Taking this into consideration, one can mix feminism and indígenismo as one.
